Magic Kingdom – Lunch

This is a sit-down, full-service restaurant. At lunch there is a regular menu as opposed to the family style, all you can eat dinner.

The food arrived in a very timely fashion, I was very impressed. On this particular day we had a 1:55 reservation and sat around 2:15. Our server was very nice and friendly.

I love The Colony salad here, it is one of my favorite salads in all of Walt Disney World. They had recently revamped it from chicken to salmon which I was ok with. However I have to admit the salmon just wasn’t the sam as it was with the chicken.  The grilled chicken had a very light smoked flavor to it and was done just perfectly. The salmon was a bit dry and quite frankly kind of bland.

I recall the version with the chicken also had pecans and cheddar cheese which finished it off nicely.  The apples in the salad added a nice mild sweetness and the dressing was the best. Just a little bit is all it needed. It is a honey shallot dressing they make fresh everyday. I couldn’t get enough of it.

As of this writing though I am happy to hear that they have put the Colony Salad with chicken back on the menu, YIPPEE!! Anyhow…

My daughter was very pleased with her choice this visit which was the fish and chips. Not quite as good as the UK in Epcot, but a pretty close second. Normally she likes the kid’s meaty mac but she decided to try the fish this time.

We treated ourselves to their yummy brownie and ice cream for dessert. It was really good, definitely enjoyed it!

I would highly recommend a visit to Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch. The atmosphere is fun. You feel like you’re in a historical house from the 1700’s. It is a nice laid back place to dine for lunch to escape from the chaos of the park. And the food is quite good:-)
